The Shawnee State University’s Theatre Department will launch the production of Harvey by Mary Chase on September 24 through 26 and October 1 through 3 at 7:30 p.m. in the Kahl Studio Theater at the Vern Riffe Center for the Arts.
Harvey portrays the story of Elwood Dowd and his invisible rabbit best friend who he introduces to everyone and insists that he is real. Embarrassed by her brother’s behavior, Veta tries to have Elwood committed to an asylum. However, through a comedy of errors, she ends up as a patient in the sanitarium herself.
The play won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1945 and is best know as a film starring James Stewart.
Tickets are $10 for SSU faculty and staff, seniors and the general public. Tickets for current SSU students are $3.
