The Ohio River Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross is kicking off fundraising efforts and is inviting the community to come support Red Cross efforts.
“The 2018 Dancing With our Stars cast is beginning to work on their fund raising projects to support the Ohio River Valley Red Cross while earning votes in their quest for the coveted mirror ball trophy,” a Red Cross release stated.
Reece Brown, one of the 10 2018 star dancers, is inviting golfers and non-golfers to “Par-tee for the Red Cross” at the Reece Brown Birthday & BBQ Classic scheduled for Oct. 20 at the Elks Country Club.
The two-person, nine-hole scramble begins with a shot gun start at 4:15 p.m., and includes numerous games on the course including longest putt, longest drive and closest to the pin.
“Couples are encouraged to participate; however, if your significant other would prefer not to hit the links, just find one of your friends to join you for a round of golf that promises fun for all,” Brown stated.
Entry fee for a “two-man” team is $100 and includes golf cart, green fees, a BBQ, music, games and entry in a drawing. In addition. The first 48 entries will receive a commemorative beer can glass. The winning couple will receive two tickets to Dancing With our Stars 2018 scheduled for March 24, 2018 at the Friends Center while the team in second place wins two tickets to the DWOS18 Kick-off on Nov. 3, 2017 also at the Friends Center.
“Dancing with our Stars” has been presented to a sold-out crowd for the past five years so these tickets are very valuable,” said Debbie Smith, Community Director of the Ohio River Valley American Red Cross.
The event will also feature fun for non-golfers or those who do not want to compete. There will be a showing of the 1996 about a washed up golf pro will show at 4:30 p.m. The 1980 classic staring Chevy Chase, Bill Murray, Michael O-Keefe and Rodney Dangerfield will show later during the dinner.
Non-golfer tickets are available and include the BBQ dinner, entry in the drawing, music, games and the movies. The event will go on rain or shine.
Sponsorships are also still available. For more information about the event or sponsorship, contact Brown at (740) 821-1904 or firstname.lastname@example.org, the American Red Cross at (740) 354-3293 or area golf courses.
Dancing With Our Stars resembles ABC Television’s hit “Dancing with the Stars” and features ten community members, known as “star dancers”, who compete both on the dance floor and off the dance floor by raising money for the local Red Cross. Every dollar raised by an individual dancer equals one vote and the person with the most votes is awarded the coveted DWOS Fundraising Mirror Ball Trophy following the show scheduled for March 24, 2018 at the Friend’s Community Center.
