Vern Riffe Center for the Arts accepting entries for Art After Dark

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio – The Vern Riffe Center for the Arts is seeking art work entries for the second Vern Riffe After Dark event.

The entry is open to all Shawnee State University students as well as local artists. The VRCFA will accept any medium and form of expression. Artists will have the opportunity to display and sell their artwork at the event. The goal is to create a network of artists and interested viewers for the SSU and Portsmouth community.

Interested artists need to submit three samples of their work by attaching images or links in an email along with their application. The samples do not have to be the pieces the artist displays at the event.

“When we did the first Art After Dark event last January, we received such a positive response and encouragement to hold such events more frequently,” said VRCFA Director, Joe Patti. “Depending on the turn out for the second Art After Dark event, we are going to schedule it as part of our annual event schedule.”

Applications can be downloaded from the VRCFA website, and mailed to

Deadline for the application is Oct. 21. Upon acceptance of work, a $20 participation fee will be due by Oct. 31.
