Southern Ohio Port Authority Website Wins Award

The Southern Ohio Port Authority (SOPA) today received a Marketing Communications Award at the Southern Economic Development Council’s (SEDC) annual conference, held in Kansas City, Missouri. The organization’s new economic development website, took home a “SUPERIOR” award for its effort in telling Scioto County’s business story to prospective employers.

The website was designed by Brand Acceleration, an Indianapolis, IN, full-service economic development marketing, branding, and public relations firm. According to Jim Walton, CEO of Brand Acceleration, Inc., “We are thrilled by this recognition, and honored to have been selected to develop this website.”

The Marketing Communication Awards are given each year by SEDC at its annual conference. More than 20 categories of marketing projects are submitted by SEDC members and evaluated in four divisions. The awards are: Best of Show, Best of Class, Superior, Excellent, Merit, and Special Judges’ Awards. Judging criteria includes graphic appeal, clarity of message, quality of information, positioning/differentiation and format. All winners are on full display for attendees to view this week during the conference. “These annual communication awards recognize and showcase the leading marketing work done by economic development professionals throughout the south,” said SEDC President Gene Stinson.

“I’m pleased to know that our marketing efforts have been recognized by a group of our economic development peers. It’s especially nice to know that the work is performing for the people of Scioto County,” said Jason Kester, Executive Director of SOPA. The site serves as a platform for showcasing the strategic advantages of doing business in Scioto County and was unveiled in 2015 after the Port Authority secured grants from the Scioto Foundation and the Fluor-BWXT Opportunity Fund.
