Chillicothe – Preliminary operations and initial construction will get under way in the city of Portsmouth next week, as contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation will undertake a resurfacing project on U.S. Route 52 West.
Crews from Allard Excavation will be resurfacing the westbound lanes of U.S. 52 in Portsmouth, between the city’s western corporation limit and New Boston, as well as between Township Road 566 (Malone Cox Road) and T.R. 569 (Old U.S. 52) near West Portsmouth.
Preliminary operations will begin Monday, June 13, with sidewalk construction and curb ramp installation. Traffic impacts during the initial phase of the project should be minimal, and all lanes on the mainline will be maintained.
Paving operations are not anticipated to begin until early July; during which time, traffic will be maintained in a minimum of one lane. Once construction begins on the mainline route, motorists can expect intermittent periods of delay.
Allard Excavation LLC of South Webster, Ohio, was awarded a contract for approximately $1.28 million, and the project is anticipated to be completed in early fall.
