At the end of a very enthusiastic evening, it was announced that local realtor Nick Rutman won the Fundraising Mirror Ball Trophy at the 2016 Dancing with our Stars event Saturday night.
Collectively the event raised more than $150,000, for the Ohio River Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross.
Rutman walked away with the trophy because he raised the most money of the dancers.
The 2016 Celebrity Dancers included, Rick Ferrell, Singer/Songwriter and Kim Paige. Ryan Hall, Assistant Vice President WesBanco of Jackson and Rebecca Adkins. Amy Heim, dentist and Jeremy Slusher.
Chris Keeton, Family Nurse Practitioner at King’s Daughters Ohio and Dianne Coriell. Teresa Martin, local dentist and Darrell Yeley. Krista Putnam, Data Coordinator YEI Corp and Francesca Hartop.
Nick Rutman, Rutman Burnside Realty Group and Autumn Thompson. Ashley Schwamberger, Firefighter Portsmouth Fire Dept. and Ladd Dunham. Jessica Suber, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon at Southern Ohio Medical Center and Jared Jenkins. Tim Wells, Veterinary Technician and the Co-owner of Shawnee Animal Clinic and Julie Blackburn.
Each of the dancers and their partners spent months learning a dance which they performed in front of hundreds of people at the event.
“All of these dancers have done a fantastic job, not only by working so hard on their dances but, also doing such a good job to raise money for the American Red Cross and for that we are truly grateful,” said Debbie Smith, Community Executive for the Ohio River Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross.
The People’s Choice Award was given to Tim Wells and his partner Julie Blackburn. The Judges Choice Award was given to Amy Heim and her partner Jeremy Slusher.
Second runner up for the 2016 Mirror Ball Trophy is Teresa Martin and partner Darrell Yeley. First runner up for the 2016 Mirror Ball Trophy is Amy Heim and her partner Jeremy Slusher. Heim raised $23,924.
Walking away from the competition with the 2016 Mirror Ball Trophy was Nick Rutman and his partner Autumn Thompson. Rutman raised $24,687.
After being announced as the winner of the competition Rutman told those in attendance, “I think is an awesome evening and awesome for the Red Cross locally.”
Funds raised by votes and dancers will support of the Ohio River Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross. Funds raised allow the Red Cross to provide local disaster prevention, preparation and relief programs. The funding also allow for the continuation of training in first aid, CPR/AED classes as well as a number of other services and programs.
The 2015 DWOS event raised more than $180,000 for the Ohio River Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross. Neal Hatcher a local realtor was awarded the Fundraising Mirror Ball Trophy by raising $106,000.
It was announced during the event that preparations for the 2017 Dancing with our Stars event were under way.
