Johnson to Serve on House Budget Committee

WASHINGTON – Congressman Bill Johnson (R-Marietta) and Chairman Tom Price (R-GA) released the following statements after the House Republican Steering Committee chose Rep. Johnson to serve on the House Budget Committee:

“I am honored that in addition to continuing my work on the influential House Energy & Commerce Committee, that I was asked to serve on the Budget Committee to help the fight to reform government and control spending,” Bill Johnson said. “Families all across Ohio have a budget that they must live within; the federal government should be operating the same way.”

Johnson added, “I look forward to promoting a budget that not only reigns in spending, but also promotes pro-growth policies that create opportunities for hard-working families. Washington must be put on a fiscally responsible path. I am thankful for the trust placed in me, and I look forward to working with my colleagues to continue the committee’s work on a responsible budget that will boost our economy, create jobs, and raise wages – for everyone.”

“At a time when our nation is facing incredible challenges at home and abroad, Congressman Johnson’s knowledge and experience will be an invaluable addition to the House Budget Committee,” Budget Committee Chairman Tom Price said. “His military experience, in particular, will help inform the committee’s work on behalf of our men and women in uniform. I look forward to working with Bill as our committee helps lead the way in strengthening America’s national security while restoring fiscal responsibility and a healthy economy.”

This new assignment is effective immediately. Johnson will add the Budget Committee to his current responsibilities on the House Energy & Commerce Committee; he will no longer be a member of the House Space, Science, and Technology Committee.
