President Gail Swick of the Scioto Valley Volunteers Chapter, United States Daughters of 1812, has been notified of the State Chairmanship appointment of SVV member, Carolyn Morrow Hilliard, of the “Correct
Use of the Flag of the U.S. and the Flag of the War of 1812” Committee. It will be Mrs. Hilliard’s responsibility to encourage and promote education of the correct use of the flags. She will report to USD 1812 Ohio State President, Sunda Peters, at year end on how Ohio Chapters have promoted the correct use of the flags.
Carolyn holds the office of SVV Chapter Recording Secretary, and she is
a Charter member of the Chapter.
The USD 1812 Society promotes patriotism, preserving historical
documents, national monuments, family histories and traditions. The Society honors the heroic deeds of our civil, military and naval veterans’ service from 1784 to 1815 inclusive. Eligibility for membership is extended to women age 18 and over who can provide satisfactory proof that they are lineal descendants of an ancestor who, during this period of American history, rendered civil, military or naval service to our country, or rendered material aid to the U.S. Army or Navy.
