The Ohio Department Of Transportation (ODOT) has awarded $12.6 million in contracts for two upcoming projects in Scioto County. Both projects are expected to last well into next year.

Just as the State Route (S.R.) 139 slide repair project is finishing up. ODOT has announced it has contracted for another slip repair project on S.R. 139 in Portsmouth.

The project is scheduled to start on Thursday, Nov. 29.

According to ODOT, “crews will be repairing a slip at the 1.20-mile marker, between Munn Street and T.R. 165 (Hinkley Hollow Road), just south of the corporation limit. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one, 9-foot lane with temporary traffic signals. The project is anticipated to be completed in early summer 2013.”

The contract for this project is valued at $646,000 and was awarded to Alan Stone Inc. who has corporate offices in Cutler, Ohio.

A $12 million contract has been awarded to Complete General Construction, of Columbus to rehabilitate the bridges on and resurface U.S. 52, S.R. 239, S.R. 73, S.R. 852 in West Portsmouth.

“This will be a design-build project starting next year and continuing into September of 2014. It is a very sizable project, and it’s my understanding that construction in the first year will focus on the bridges, and the second year will be the resurfacing,” said Kathleen Fuller, ODOT District 9 Public Information Officer.
