The National Circus of the People’s Republic of China to perform at SSU

Shawnee State University’s Vern Riffe Center for the Arts presents The National Circus of the People’s Republic of China performing “Cirque Chinois” at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 30.

Direct from Beijing, the National Circus of the People’s Republic of China is one of the longest running and most distinguished circus troupes in China founded in 1953. The troupe is especially acclaimed because of its unique acts such as the Great Teeterboard, Grand Flying Trapeze, Group Contortion, Straw Hats, Juggling, Girls’ Balance with Bowls, and many other exciting acts.

The Company has won more than twenty gold and silver medals and many other awards at international circus festivals including the Monte Carlo International Circus Festival, Cirque de Demain, Wuqiao International Circus Festival, Wuhan International Circus Festival and China National Acrobatic Competition.

Tickets are available at the McKinley Box Office Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. or by calling (740) 351-3600 or through Ticketmaster. The cost is from $33 to $35 for adults; $31 to $33 for seniors age 60 and over; $28 to $30 for students; and $15 to $17 for children 12 and under.
