After 40 years of service James Donaldson has resigned as a member of the Goodwill Advisory Board. Throughout the years he as served in various rolls on the board including president and secretary.

Donaldson and his wife Clara’s parents were instrumental in Goodwill Industries of Central Ohio, opening an agency in Portsmouth, the thrift store opened in 1967 with six disabled employees.

Goodwill Industries depends on the local community for gently used materials for re-sale in the retail stores. The revenue generated from retail sales promotes self-sufficiency through the training and employment programs.

Donaldson commented, “throughout the years I have seen a tremendous amount of progress in Goodwill and I am so grateful to have had the pleasure and the opportunity to serve as a board member and officer. I personally appreciate the overall programs that Goodwill supports but especially vocational rehabilitation that Goodwill provides community employment opportunities for people with disabilities.”

According to JoAnn Adkins, Goodwill Industries of Southern Ohio, “Jim has been and is so supportive of community activities and Goodwill Industries has benefited greatly from all of his volunteer work over the past decades. At this time Goodwill Industries employees, staff and board members would like to give our heartfelt thanks and love to Jim Donaldson, who forever will be apart of the Goodwill Family.
