Mature Services, Inc. offers Employment & Training Program previously named The Senior Employment Center for Portsmouth region at 733 Third St. The name was changed in July, 2012 to give emphasis to the training opportunities available to persons 55+ who are eligible for the program’s services. The program gives eligible participants part-time employment while seeking permanent employment in the job areas of their interest. The program operates in partnership with not-for-profit organizations to provide them an intern to assist their staff in providing additional quality service to their clients. Our participants received classroom and one-on-one training to increase their computer skills and with job club sessions to improve interview and job seeking skills. Through the Senior Community Service and Employment Program, (SCSEP) area employers can benefit from the Employer Based Training Program to cover their wages and worker’s compensation. Employers may call the Portsmouth office at (740) 353-5238 and ask for with Sarah Lowe, the Training Specialist, to schedule interviews for qualified job applicants and/or Diane Boster for additional information about the program. The office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
