Boneyfiddle Arts Center, (BAC), 546 Second Street, is located in the heart of the historic section of Portsmouth, Ohio. Its goal is to promote the growth of visual arts in the Portsmouth area.
In the year 2012 it realized this through many activities and events. BAC has functioned as a visual arts center, exposition place, and educational facility. In the past year it hosted four month long featured artist showcases, nine educational classes, a month of “Day of the Dead” cultural celebrations, nine educational classes, and numerous fundraising events.
Collaboration with community partners has increased to seventeen organizations. Additional activities have furthered the promotion of musical classes and events, book signings, art lectures and presentations, and hosting a literary club.
Becoming more visible presence in the community has been attained through promotional flyers, event flyers, and newspaper articles. It has also maintained a Facebook page, provided promotional displays in area businesses, and participated in radio interviews. Advertising has been placed in the Portsmouth Daily Times, SOPPA program and the Shawnee Lodge directory. A photo article for the annual “Day of the Dead” event was published in the fall issue of Bridges magazine.
BAC has also recently attained a full 501c3 nonprofit organization status and hopes to further enrich the lives of the community as well as assist in the renewal of the Boneyfiddle area during its operation in 2013.
