Danny Gail Bateman, 72, of Minford, died Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at Ohio State University Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Mershon Bateman; three children, Tim (Wendy) Bateman of Sciotoville, John (Eriko) Bateman of Tokyo, Japan, Julie (Brian) Hill of Cincinnati, and five grandchildren. Services were held Saturday, February 9, 2013 at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford with Rev. Bernard Tilley officiating.

Doris Bell

1933-2013

Doris Bell, 80, of Portsmouth, died Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at the SOMC Hospice Center. Surviving are three sons, Rev. Harold G. Bell, Jr. of Portsmouth, Reginald Robinson of Athens, OH and Raymond Robinson of Beechwood Heights, OH; a stepson, Mark A. Bell of Seattle, WA; a daughter, Francine Bell of Portsmouth; a stepdaughter, Cheryl Koerber of Seattle, WA; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren. Services were held Saturday.

Garnet Louise Blevins Boyd, 57, of Portsmouth died Saturday Feb. 2, 2013 at SOMC Hospice Center. Garnet is survived by her husband, Kelvin Boyd; 3 sisters, Janet Mollett and Donna Pinkerton both of Franklin Furnace and Joyce Koster of Kitts Hill; 5 brothers, Forrest Blevins of New Boston, Walter Blevins and Richard Blevins both of Franklin Furnace, Burt Blevins of Eden Park and Clifford Blevins of Greenup, KY. Services were held Wednesday Feb. 6, 2013 at D.W. SwickWICK FUNERAL HOME IN NEW BOSTON with Pastor Samuel Salyer and Bishop Jim Lens officiating. Interment will follow at Haverhill cemetery. William Charles Browning, 87, of McDermott died sunday Feb. 3, 2013 at SOMC Hospice Center. He is survived by 4 sons, Timothy (Lisa) Browning of Otway, Dan Browning and Belle Hamilton of Lucasville, Mike (Dawn) Browning of North Carolina and Gene Browning of Dayton; 4 daughters, Marge Oyster of Danville, Peg (Rick) Miller of Wheelersburg, Reva (Joe) Brady of Parkersburg, W.VA. and Erica (Jerry) Blair of Billingham, WA; a daughter-in-law, Debbie Browning of Otway and Many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bishop Vernon Edgar Willard Burton, 86, of West Portsmouth, died Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at the SOMC Hospice Center. Vernon is survived by his wife Aileen Clara Swords Burton, two daughters, Rosanna (Jeff) Cope Carroll of Lincolnton, GA; Velveeta (Rodney) Neace of Portsmouth; five sisters, Avis Kidder of Michigan, Monna Fenske of Tallmadge, OH, Ann Hanson of Kankakee, Illinois, Sharon Powell of New Jersey, Veldean Richards of Michigan; four grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. Services were held Sunday from 11 am to 1pm.

Richard Cantwell

Richard A. Cantwell, 87, of Dublin, OH, a former resident of Rosemount, died Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at a Dublin Hospital. Survivors include a son, Mark Cantwell and wife Rose of Hilliard; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services were held Saturday, February 2, 2013 at the Swick-Bussa-Chamberlin Funeral Home in Wheelersburg with Gary Heimbach officiating.

Thomas Lee Cook, 61, of Sciotoville, died Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth. Surviving are a son, Eric Thomas (Melanie) Cook of Ft. Myers, FL; two daughters, Kimberly Renee Bramstedt of Cleveland, and Debbie Cook of Columbus; two sisters, Sally Cook of Sciotoville, and Grace Rose of Portsmouth and two grandchildren. Services were held Saturday at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Rev. Don Noel officiating.

Travis Diles

Travis Dean Diles, 79, of Lucasville, died Monday, February 4, 2013 at the SOMC Hospice Center. He is survived by his wife Nancy Carolyn Coe Diles, a daughter, Dana (Elmer) Gregory of Lucasville; three brothers, Curtis (Inez) Diles, Jr. of Huber Heights, Paul (Sarah) Diles of Sarasota, FL, and Alva “Sonny” (Jean) Diles of Wheelersburg; two sisters, Delores Walker of Minford, and Sonja (Bill) Rice of Reynoldsburg; a grandson and a great-grandson.

Services were held Friday at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Dr. Greg Hudson and Pastor Chad Benner officiating.

Surviving are her son, Rodney James Stebel of Alabama; three daughters, Diane Gullett of Blue Creek, Sharon Cassidy of West Portsmouth, and Debbie Bossart of Portsmouth; a brother, Don (Sandra) Kirkley of Fayetteville, GA; two sisters, Geraldine Hoppe of Chattanooga, TN, and Sarah Ray of Molena, GA; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Raymond E. Pinson, 75, of Tick Ridge Road, Wheelersburg, died Saturday, February 2, 2013 at his residence. He is survived by his wife, Curleen (Conkel) Pinson, a son, Steve Pinson of Cincinnati; two grandchildren and a sister.

Surviving are 3 brothers, Floyd (Carrie) Pollard and Ronald (Martha) Pollard, all of West Portsmouth, and Leroy (Wanda) Pollard of Findlay; 3 sisters, Ola Fraley and Audrey (Vincent) Ferguson, all of West Portsmouth and Mary Crawford of Portsmouth; 4 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Marcella Smith

Marcella Marie Smith went to be with the Lord on February 1, 2013. She passed away at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth. She is survived by one son, Larry D. (Laurie) Smith, two daughters, Sharen Kay Townsend and Allison M. Smith, one sister, Virginia Noltenberger, five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Services were held Monday, February 4, 2013 at the Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home with Pastor Bradley Brandt officiating.

Maxine Marilyn Womack, 87, of Portsmouth, died Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at Southern Ohio Medical Center. Surviving are her sister, Hortense Y. Hairston of Portsmouth; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and their families.
