Shawnee State University will welcome Joseph Patti as Director of the Vern Riffe Center for the Arts beginning Monday, May 6.
“We are pleased that Joe will be joining us this spring,” Dr. Rita Rice Morris, SSU President, said. “He has worked with institutions like ours and has experience in building strong relationships with the community. I am particularly looking forward to working with him to develop his ideas for integrating activities at the Vern Riffe Center with campus life and in continuing to build upon the strong relationship that we share with SOPAA (Southern Ohio Performing Arts Association) and its members.”
Patti is joining SSU from the University of Hawaii – Leeward Community College Theatre in Pearl City, Hawaii, where he has served as theatre manager for the past eight years.
“I’m looking forward to joining Shawnee State University and to working with the SOPAA Board,” Patti said. “During my visit to campus I was extremely impressed with the Vern Riffe Center for the Arts facility, the students, staff, faculty, and the community — and their commitment to the arts. I’m looking forward to being a part of helping people discover – or re-discover – what makes the Center unique.”
A native of rural New York, Patti holds a Master of Fine Arts in Theatre Management from Florida State University and a Bachelor of Arts in English, with a Certificate in Theatre Arts, from Siena College in Loudonville, New York.
He has previously served with the Appel Farm Arts and Music Center, Elmer, N.J.; the University of Central Florida, Orlando, Fla.; and the Asolo Center for the Performing Arts, Sarasota, Fla.
