Area Garden Clubs Decorate Lodge
Following a long tradition, area garden clubs from Scioto, Pike and Lawrence counties gathered at Shawnee State Park and Resort’s Lodge on November 13 to transform the lodge into Christmas Central. High school honor societies from Minford, Clay and New Boston joined the garden clubs’ work force of approximately 120 workers. The results are several decorated areas, for example the lobby fireplace corner and 40 beautiful trees on three levels of the Lodge. The work force is supervised by Teri Book and Linda Warfield and is supported by the lodge maintenance crew. The Lodge kitchen crew supplies both breakfast and lunch.
The Lodge will hold an official open house on Sunday, December 9, beginning with a buffet dinner, and tours of the trees. Entertainment will be provided in the large conference room, beginning at 2:00 P.M., with a variety of local choirs, featuring holiday music. A contingency of vendors will be present with unique holiday wares and local Garden Clubs will serve as hosts. For dinner reservations and additional information call the Shawnee State Park and Resort’s Lodge at 740-858-6621.
