The Clay Alumni Association honored retired Clay teacher, Nora Horsley, at their annual banquet. Ms. Horsley was honored for her 28 years of teaching, in the Clay School System. Before coming to Clay, as a teacher, Ms. Horsley taught at Garfield and Green Schools. During that time, Ms. Horsley taught kindergarten, first, third, fourth, seventh and eighth grades.


Ms. Horsley was a 1952 Clay graduate and attended Ohio University.


Nora was married to Paul Horsley, also a Clay graduate, for 47 years until his death in 2007. The Horsley’s had two sons, sam and miles, and two grandchildren, Justin and Kera. Both of their sons and two grandchildren graduated from Clay Schools. Nora has who now attend Clay schools, Emma in the second grade and Lyla who is in pre-school.


In her retirement, Nora says she enjoys attending Christ’s Brethren Church and spending time with her family, quilting, cooking, and riding around in her golf cart. Nora said, “i want to continue doing as much as possible for clay schools.”


The president of the Clay Alumni, Charles Leonard, presented Nora Horsley with a plaque commemorating her dedicated years of service to clay schools.
