The Animal Welfare League of Scioto County has completed its 25th year

providing reduced rate pet vaccinations to area residents. The number of

locations has varied since 1987. With anywhere from four to five locations

in the past, the League has since seen a need to add a sixth. As of last year,

Nile Township Fire Station joined other fire stations at Minford, Porter

Township, Valley Township, Washington Township and Sierra’s Haven.

Pictured is Dr. Jill Salisbury vaccinating a participant at the Nile Township

Fire Station. Clinics are offered the first Saturday of May and the first

Saturday of June; usually three locations per event. Scioto County

Veterinarians generously donate their time and expertise at these

locations. The numbers of participants increase every year. The six

locations this year vaccinated or heartworm tested 385 dogs and 37 cats.

Pet vaccination clinics are not based on income but available to all. More

information on this and other Animal Welfare League programs can be

obtained by calling (740)858-2446.
