The Bears dominated the race from the beginning. Senior Keegan Rathkamp (Chillicothe, OH) led the Bears as he finished in a course record time of 25:06. Sophomore Galen Dills (Chillicothe, OH) finished second in a time of 25:13, while senior Michael Owen (Reedsville, OH) finished third in a time of 25:26. Freshman Brad Liston (Circleville, OH) finished the course in a time of 25:30 to take fourth, while senior Josh Linkous (South Webster, OH) ran a personal best of 25:31 to place fifth. Rio Grande's Nick Wilson broke up the Bears' scoring as he placed sixth in a time 25:42. Rounding out the Bears scoring were senior Chuck Wentz (Proctorville, OH) and freshman Blake Wysocki (Toledo, OH). Wentz completed the 8,000 in a time of 26:06, while Wysocki posted a time of 26:25. Junior Reece Brown (Lucasville, OH) and freshman Adam Schroeder (Shelby, OH) also place in the top 10 with times of 26:39 and 26:42.
Shawnee State top nine runners earned Mid-South Conference recognition.
"I am very pleased with how the men competed in their first Mid-South Championship," stated Head Coach Eric Putnam.
Shawnee State will compete in their third consecutive NAIA National Meet on Saturday, November 20. Last season the Bears finished fourth at the NAIA Meet.
