State Senator Robin Webb, D-Grayson, was recently elected President of the Executive Council of the National Assembly of Sportsmen’s Caucuses (NASC) at its 9th Annual Sportsmen-Legislator Summit in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The summit serves as the umbrella organization for launching and working with state legislative sportsmen’s caucuses in state legislatures.
NASC is made up of nearly 2,000 state legislators and 40 state sportsmen caucuses throughout the nation.
“I am honored to be elected President of NASC. This is an opportunity to become even more involved with the issues that sportsmen and outdoors lovers are facing today,” said Senator Webb, who is a founder of the Kentucky Sportsmen’s Caucus.
Senator Webb said that the Sportsman-Legislator Summit not only provided her with the opportunity to share ideas with her counterparts in other states, but also the concerns and issues facing the Commonwealth. “During the upcoming legislative session, I will take what I learned from the summit and discuss it with my colleagues in both the Senate and House in an effort to address the needs of Kentucky’s sportsmen,” she explained.
The summit is the largest gathering of pro-sportsmen legislators that occurs each year. The event provides the bi-partisan group of sportsmen-legislators – representing states across the nation – with the opportunity to interact with state and federal natural resources agencies, allied non-governmental conversation organizations and industries concerned with the future of our nation’s outdoor heritage.
Senator Webb participated in this unique forum to discuss policy issues of concern to hunters and anglers in Kentucky and around the nation as well as exchange ideas on pro-sportsmen legislation as well as issues and trends of concern to the outdoor community.
Policy sessions ranged from Southeastern U.S. Fisheries Issues to Natural Gas and Wildlife Conservation to State Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus Updates.
“As a legislator, I have always been a strong advocate of the sportsmen and outdoorsmen and this summit allowed me to have a voice on the national level. As president, I will continue to work at the local, state and national level on issues facing hunters and anglers,” Senator Webb said.
Senator Webb represents the 18th district that includes Bracken, Carter, Greenup, Lewis, Mason and Robertson counties.
