The Scioto County Relay for Life has just received the “All American Relay Award” for its success in 2012.

The award is to commend the county and Relay for Life Chair, Rosie Williams for waging a well planned, energetic, dynamic approach in boosting the over-all fund raising totals to $117,000.00 which put them $ 24,000.00 over goal. Williams was quick to point out,” it couldn’t happen without all the compassionate, caring and talented people that formed the individual teams that our Relay is made up of. It is a beautiful sight to see all the different teams sharing ideas, supporting each other, and caring about people in their communities from all over Scioto County. The excitement and enthusiasm is abundant at our monthly Team Captain meetings and in 2011-12 that Team Spirit carried thru-out the year and put us well over our goal.”

The Relay Kick Off will be starting earlier this year to give more people a chance to get involved in this American Cancer Society Event. Everyone is welcome. You can be a Lone Ranger or you can represent a large company, church, any business (remember the all night camp out is fun for all), manufacturers, Banks, health related companies, and hospitals, can have a sense of helping out those stricken with the dreaded disease while also moving research and development at a faster pace. For those who have never done anything tike this before, but you fee! like you would love to do something, or if you are an Ace at championing a cause, we would love for you to come out to the Relay For Life Kick-Off on November 1, 2012 at the SOMC Cancer Center on Kinney’s Lane in Portsmouth from 6-8 p.m.

At least come on out and see what it is all about. There will be plenty of food and door prizes waiting. If you have questions, concerns or comments please call the Event Chair Rosie Williams 740-354-4363 or reiayforlifesciotocounty@hotmail.com
