The pinewood derby is one of the most popular and successful family activities in Cub Scouting. Pinewood derby cars are small wooden models that Cub Scouts make with help from their families. The cars are powered by gravity and run down a track. Every boy designs and builds his own “grand prix” car to enter in the race.
The Tecumseh District is one of the eleven districts in the Simon Kenton Council and currently has twenty-four Cub Packs available for youth in the first through fifth grades in Southern Ohio and Greenup County in Kentucky. Boys may join a Cub Pack anytime during the year, but spring is a perfect time to get involved with Cub Spring Camp coming up May 3- 5 at Camp Oyo and Cub Day Camp scheduled for June 24ththrough June 28thand also at Camp Oyo in West Portsmouth.
