IMPORTANT NOTICE-LIBRARY CLOSURE INFORMATION

PPL to join OVLC the week of November 28!

The Portsmouth Public Library is excited to announce it will join the OVLC (Ohio Valley Library Consortium) beginning Wednesday, November 28. This will allow your Library system to expand both the amount and type of materials available for your use.

The merge process requires the library’s computer systems to be down for several days which will cause an interruption in our service schedule.

Please review the following merge timeline:

Libraries OPEN - Each patron will have a check-out limit of 5 items:

Wednesday, November 28

Thursday, November 29

Friday, November 30

Libraries CLOSED:

Saturday, December 1

Sunday, December 2

Monday, December 3

Tuesday, December 4

Bookmobile - NO SERVICE:

Friday, November 30

Tuesday, December 4

All library locations and the Bookmobile will resume their regular schedules on Wednesday, December 5.

Portsmouth Public Library Toy Drive

The Portsmouth Public Library has begun its 12th Annual Toy Drive. The community is asked bring in a new-unwrapped toy to the Local History Department Display Case. Toys can be for a boy or a girl and any age. If the toy requires batteries, you are asked to please provide those with the toy. Toys will be collected until December 17th at which point the Portsmouth Police Department will pick them up and distribute them to area children in need.

Northwest Library Expansion and New Service Hours

The Portsmouth Public Library system is excited to announce that the Northwest Library will be re-locating to a larger room in the Northwest Resource Center. To accomplish this move, the Northwest Library will be closed the week of October 29th and will re-open on Monday, November 5th.

As of November 5th, service hours for the Northwest location will change to the following schedule:

Mondays noon - 8pm

Wednesdays 10am - 6pm

Fridays 10am - 6pm

We hope the larger space and new hours will offer more opportunities for you to visit and use our Northwest location!

Yoga

The Portsmouth Public Library will be hosting its Yoga group at 10am in the Copley Meeting Room on Tuesday, November 27.

Glass Memory Christmas Ornament

Give a personalized Christmas photo ornament to the special people on your list. It is the perfect gift for Grandparents, Godparents, Aunts, Uncles, etc. This program will be held in the Copley Room November 27 at 4pm at the Portsmouth location. Please call 354-5304 for information. A $2.00 fee is required at the time of registration. This program is intended for Adults.
