The next meeting of the Shawnee Nature Club will be Tuesday, December 18, 2012, at 7pm in the Forest Room at Hillview Retirement Center, Portsmouth OH. Club member Sue Welty will be the speaker. She will share with us about her experience of traveling to Costa Rica in May 2012 with Shawnee State University’s Dave Todt, Rita Haider, Jeff Bauer and 13 students. Her presentation will cover the research they participated in including biological field studies and conservation projects such as bird netting and banding, large mammal monitoring, caiman survey, and monitoring of sea turtle populations.
