The annual Community Employment Banquet was held at the Friends Community Center Oct. 11. The Scioto County Board of Developmental Disabilities (SCBDD) and STAR, Inc. host the event to recognize local employers and employees in the Community Employment program. More than 200 were in attendance at this year’s event.
“We have so many reasons to celebrate the accomplishments that take place every day with our program, but we bring it all into one evening and recognize those who make this program a success,” said Kelly Hunter, Director of SCBDD Adult Services and STAR, Inc.
Cincinnati Reds Scout Gene Bennett served as the keynote speaker for the event along-side Ohio State Representative Terry Johnson, DO. Both employees and employers received recognition throughout the evening.
“We have great people who make this program successful and help enrich the lives of those we serve,” he said. “It is an honor to publicly recognize them for all they do.”
Those receiving special recognition were: John Roth, Male Employee of the Year; Jeanna Pitts, Female Employee of the Year; Adam Salmons, Bridges Summer Program MVP; Jenny LeMaster of Sciotoville Giovannis, Employer of the year; Sandy Perkins, STAR, Inc. Employee of the Year and Teresa Doerr, Lifetime Achievement Award.
“There really isn’t an award great enough to present to any of our community partners. We are proud to work side-by-side with some of the best individuals in our region,” Hunter said.
