For the week ending August 2, 2014: The following traffic advisory includes road construction and major maintenance projects requiring lane restrictions and/or closures along the state and federal highway system within ODOT District 9. Districtwide


A raised pavement marking project is under way, and crews are working on various routes throughout the district to replace RPMs. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in a rolling operation while crews are at work. All work is anticipated to be completed by early summer. (#14-1018)


A two-lane microsurfacing project is under way at various locations in Adams, Highland and Lawrence counties. Crews will be working on S.R. 136 and S.R. 247 in Adams County; S.R. 138 in Highland County; and S.R. 141 in Lawrence County, and traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of flaggers and/or arrow boards. All work is anticipated to be completed in early fall. (#14-0306)


Jackson County


JULY 28-30: S.R. 93 will be closed in Wellston for railroad crossing and approach work. The closure will go into effect at 8 a.m. Monday and continue until approximately 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 30. Motorists will be detoured via Pennsylvania Avenue, S.R. 349, S.R. 160 and S.R. 93 in Vinton County.


U.S. 35 is reduced to one lane in each direction for a rock fall/slide repair project just east of C.R. 71 (Lloyds Bridge Road). Crews are excavating and reconstructing the rock slopes, and traffic will be maintained in a minimum of one, 12-foot lane at all times. The project is scheduled to be completed in early fall. Operations for a grade separation project at U.S. 35 and C.R. 9 (Keystone Furnace Road) are under way. Currently, traffic impacts are minimal, and traffic will be maintained on all mainline routes during construction. The project is scheduled to be completed by early summer of 2015. (#14-0140)


A resurfacing project on S.R. 93 between the northern corporation limit of Jackson and the Jackson-Vinton County line is nearing completion. Crews will be installing raised pavement markers and striping, and traffic will be maintained with the aid flaggers when crews are at work. The project is scheduled to be completed by early summer. S.R. 139 will be reduced to one lane during daytime, business hours between the Jackson-Scioto County line and the southern corporation limit of Jackson for a resurfacing project. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained with the aid flaggers, and the project is scheduled to be completed by late summer. (#13-0572)


AUGUST 1: A resurfacing project is scheduled to begin on S.R. 32, where crews will be paving between T.R. 259 (Cutlip Road) and the S.R. 327 interchange at Wellston; resurfacing will also include paving the interchange ramps at S.R. 327. Traffic will be maintained in one, 12-foot lane in each direction. The project is scheduled to be completed by mid-fall. (#14-0311)


Lawrence County


A bridge replacement project is under way on S.R. 7 at the Indian Guyan Creek bridge, just west of Proctorville. Traffic is being maintained in one, 11-foot lane with temporary traffic signals, and all work is scheduled to be completed by late fall. (#14-0078)


S.R. 217 will be reduced to one lane during daytime, business hours between S.R. 141 and C.R. 2 (Greasy Ridge Road) for a resurfacing project. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained with the aid flaggers, and the project is scheduled to be completed by mid-summer. (#14-0119)


A bench cleaning project is under way on U.S. 52 West, between T.R. 268 (Crabtree Hollow Road) and C.R. 1 (Old U.S. 52). Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane in the westbound direction and two lanes in the eastbound direction. However, motorists may encounter periods of delay, especially during peak travel times. The project is anticipated to be completed in early summer. (#14-1035)


The Ironton-Russell Bridge replacement project is under way, with work being conducted off affected roadways. In addition to localized closures affecting downtown traffic, motorists are advised of equipment entering and exiting the work zone in Ironton and at the U.S. 23 viaduct in Kentucky. (#11-0628)


As part of the Ironton-Russell Bridge replacement, First Street and Campbell Avenue in Ironton will be closed intermittently during daytime, business hours for construction of the Ohio approach. Crews will move from site to site, imparting separate closures as they progress through this phase of the project. Motorists will be detoured locally in downtown.


Pike County


C.R. 47 (Denver Road) is closed at its junction with C.R. 46 (Prussia Road), approximately one mile west of S.R. 104, for a realignment and culvert replacement project. The closure will be in effect for up to 180 days, and while the route is closed, motorists will be detoured via C.R. 35 (Prosperity Road) and S.R. 220 and U.S. 23 at Waverly. (#14-0024)


C.R. 47 (Denver Road) is closed between C.R. 35 (Prosperity Road) and C.R. 33 (Clines Chapel Road) for a bridge replacement project. While the route is closed, motorists will be detoured via local roads. The project is scheduled to be completed by late summer. (#14-0025)


C.R. 85 (Tennyson Road) is closed at its junction with C.R. 21 (Sunfish Creek Road), approximately one mile east of S.R. 772, for a bridge rehabilitation project. The closure will be in effect for up to 120 days, and while the route is closed, motorists will be detoured via S.R. 772 and S.R. 32. (#14-0026)


S.R. 220 is reduced to one, 10-foot lane at the 6.10-mile marker for a slip repair project. The project site is located just west of C.R. 36 (Pleasant Hill Road), approximately one mile west of Waverly. Traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of temporary signals. (#14-0255)


A resurfacing project is under way on U.S. 23 from the Pike-Scioto County line to just north of T.R. 603 (Seif Road); the project also includes paving the interchange ramps to the AEC/DOE facility. Traffic on U.S. 23 will be maintained in one lane in each direction; however, the interchange ramps are scheduled to be closed during the week of August 4. All work is scheduled to be completed in early fall. (#14-0355)


AUGUST 18: C.R. 37 (Buchanan Road) will be closed between S.R. 220 and S.R. 772 for a bridge replacement project. The project site is located just north of Pleasant Hill Road, and the closure will be in effect for up to 90 days. Motorists will be detoured via S.R. 220 and S.R. 772 (#14-0356)


Scioto County


A realignment project on S.R. 140 is under way, and crews will be correcting the alignment and curve at the junction with C.R. 14 (Allegheny Hill Road) and C.R. 13 (Gephart Road), between C.R. 3 (Hartley Road) and C.R. 5 (Turkey Foot Road), approximately five miles north of Portsmouth. Throughout construction, S.R. 140 traffic will be maintained in one, 10-foot lane with temporary signals. However, both Allegheny Hill and Gephart roads will be closed at their junction with S.R. 140. Motorists will have access to both routes via their junction with S.R. 140 at the opposite ends of the work zone. The project is scheduled to be completed by mid-fall. (#14-0225)


S.R. 335 will be reduced to one lane during daytime, business hours between the Portsmouth corporation limit, just north of C.R. 31 (Swauger Valley Road), and C.R. 12 (Bennett Schoolhouse Road) for a resurfacing and guardrail installation project. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained with the aid flaggers, and the project is scheduled to be completed by early fall. (#14-0119)


A demolition project is under way within the corridor of the upcoming S.R. 823 (Portsmouth Bypass) project. Crews are clearing property obtained for the project; however, there should be little to no impact to traffic. All work is scheduled to be completed by late fall. (#14-2001)


Lane restrictions are in place on U.S. 52 between the S.R. 239 interchange and the Scioto River bridges at the Portsmouth for a rehabilitation project. Currently, S.R. 852 is reduced to one lane in each direction between the Carl Perkins Bridge to Kentucky and S.R. 73/S.R. 104 North, and U.S. 52 is reduced to one lane in each direction for paving. Traffic on mainline U.S. 52 will be maintained in a minimum of one lane in each direction at all times, and all work is anticipated to be completed in mid-fall. (#12-3008)
