As part of the Ohio Department of Transportation – District 9’s Planning & Engineering Department, the district’s Environmental Office is seeking public input on the following proposed bridge replacement projects in Scioto County.
Scioto County – SCI-TR 79-0.10 (PID: 97557) – It is proposed to replace the structure over Dry Run on Township Road 79 (Laurel Fork Road) in Scioto County. The existing structure, which is located immediately west of the route’s junction with state Route 73 between Rarden and Otway, is a single-span, steel pony truss bridge with a stone substructure, and the new bridge will be constructed as a design-build project.
Scioto County – SCI-TR 262-0.48 (PID: 97557) – The proposed project is to replace the bridge over Pine Creek on Township Road 262 (Mill Road) in Scioto County. The existing structure, which is located approximately one-half mile east of the route’s junction with S.R. 522 in Porter Township, is a single-span, steel pony truss bridge with a concrete substructure; the new bridge will be constructed as a design-build project.
No new right of way will be needed for either project, and no homes or businesses will be removed as a result of these projects. Some small trees and bushes will be removed; however, none of the trees have habitat for the federally endangered Indiana Bat.
Both projects are part of the Ohio Bridge Partnership Program, and additional information regarding either one is available online at http://www.dot.state.oh.us/districts/D09/Pages/Public-Involvement-Process.aspx. Written comments should be submitted by August 5, 2014, or the deadline date that is posted on the web site, to:
