Organizers with the 2014 Pike County Fair have prepared a schedule of events that will keep interested fairgoers busy.
The annual Pike County Fair will take place from July 25 - August 2.
Some of the highlights of this years event include, Harness Racing in the grandstand on Friday, July 25 starting at 5 p.m. Saturday’s schedule features a Tug-a-Truck at 7 p.m.
On Sunday, July 27th there will be a Gas/Diesel Truck Pull at 2 p.m. in the grandstand. At 4 p.m. a Kiddie Tractor Pull will take place, after the kiddle tractor pull the Jr. Fair Board will have FUN Contest. There is a pleasure horse show at 5 p.m. in the Show Horse Arena.
On Monday, July 28 there will be a poultry show at 9:30 a.m., a small animal show at Noon. Cloverbud interviews will take place on this day from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. An Apple Pie Auction will take place at 6:45 p.m. with the Parade of Clubs at 7 p.m. in the grandstand.
The Pike County Jr. Fair Royalty Contest will take place in the grand stands at 7:20 p.m.
Highlights of the Tuesday, July 29th schedule include, a market rabbit show at 8:30 a.m. a dairy cattle show at 2 p.m. and a goat show at 5 p.m.
On Wednesday, July 30 a market hog show as well as a breeding rabbit show will start at 9 a.m.
Thursday, July 31 is Senior Citizens Day at the fair and the highlights of that days schedule include, a sheep show at 10 a.m. cloverbud interviews from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. A beef steer show / beef showmanship will take place at 7 p.m.
On Friday, August 1 “Cyclemania” bicycle races will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The live stock show will take place in the multi-purpose building at 5 p.m.
On Saturday, August 2 the Poultry/Rabbit Sale will starts the days schedule at 10 a.m. and arm wrestling contest will take place at 6 p.m.
On Sunday, August 3 the schedule includes times in which exhibits and booths are to be removed.
General admission to the fair is $7, free admission to all military personnel with active military I.D. must pay to ride. Children under the age of two are admitted free. Senior Citizen Day on Thursday, free admission to anyone 60 years and over, must pay to ride.
A one dollar parking fee will be charged at the gate when entering the fairgrounds.
On MOnday the midway rides will begin after being approved by the state inspector. Tuesday through Saturday the rides will operate 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
