The Scioto County Board of Developmental Disabilities met Thursday, March 20 at the STAR, Inc. building. In addition to routine business of approving expenditures, program reports and minutes, the Board took the following actions:
- Approved a finalized version of a contract between STAR, Inc. and the County Board that is in effect through the end of 2014
- Adopted a master contract with Choice Housing, Inc., a not-for-profit working to provide safe, decent and affordable housing for people with DD in Scioto County, and providing Choice with a one-time allocation of $25,000 from the Board’s residential fund
- Amended the Tobacco Use policy to include the use of electronic cigarettes, and similar products; this change became effective immediately
- Amended the Verification of Employment Eligibility policy opening the option of hiring people guilty of certain driving offences
Following an executive session, the Board announced that interviews for the position of superintendent would be held on Monday, April 14 between 6 and 8 PM. Two candidates will be interviewed, one of whom is Interim Superintendent Julie Monroe.
The next regular meeting of the Board is set for Thursday, April 17 at 6:00 PM in the STAR, Inc. building, which is located at 2625 Gallia Street in Portsmouth. If there is business to be considered, a meeting of the Ethics Committee will take place at 5:45 PM that same evening, in the same building. Both meetings are open to the public.
The meeting on April 14, also at STAR, is open to the public. However, the interviews will be conducted in executive session, which is closed to the public in accordance with ORC 121.22.
