he Russell D. Williams American Legion Post 471 Auxiliary on Gallia Street in Portsmouth had their annual Kids Christmas Party Sunday, December 22, 2013 from 2-4pm.
The event kicked off with kids getting to come in to the Legion Hall and do some drawing and coloring. Little Caesar’s pizza, chips, cookies and juice were then served to over 40 kids and their families who were in attendance for the holiday festivities. After eating, Santa Claus arrived and passed out beautifully wrapped gifts to every child present, listening to their Christmas wishes and posing for pictures.
Also in attendance to the kid’s delight were Ironman, and a lit-up festively dressed local therapy dog Beck who snuggled and enjoyed sharing cuddles with several of the little party attendees during the entire event. American Legion Post 471 Auxiliary members who actively worked this event were ALA Post 471 President Betty Taylor, Sandy Neal, Mary McGlone, and Kathi Jo Zornes.
This successful Christmas party was concluded with every child getting a bag with fruit, peanuts and lots of candy to take home with them.
