Circuit Court


Jacob C. Spradlin was recently sentenced by Circuit Court Judge David W. Nibert to 30 years in the custody of the West Virginia Department of Corrections. According to Spradlin’s commitment order filed in the office of Circuit Clerk Bill Withers, Spradlin was convicted on a plea of guilty to the felony offense of sexual assault in the third degree. The original conviction date was Jan. 25, 2010 with a sentence date of Sept. 6 and effective sentence date of Jan. 10. Spradlin was given credit for 239 days previously served in jail.


Mason County Sheriff’s Department


The Mason County Sheriff’s Department reports the following arrests: Troy P. Akers, 47, Point Pleasant, domestic battery, arrested by Sgt. Varian. Joshua Jeffers, 33, Hartford, unemployment fraud and child support violation, arrested by Cpl. Terry. Margaret Yoder-Akers, 36, Gallipolis Ferry, domestic battery, arrested by Lt. Greene. Mitchell L. Weats, 54, Point Pleasant, capias, arrested by Sgt. Varian. Delbert L. Hill, 58, Point Pleasant, domestic battery, arrested by Sgt. Varian. Teresa L. Stearns, 49, Point Pleasant, domestic battery, arrested by Sgt. Varian. Joshua McCormick, 26, Leon, capias, arrested by Deputy Rhodes. Sandra S. McDade, 46, Leon, use of altered registration plate, arrested by Cpl. Terry. Joshua S. Martin, 30, Gallipolis Ferry, driving while license revoked for DUI, arrested by Cpl. Terry.


Point Pleasant Police Department


The Point Pleasant Police Department recently released its monthly activity report for August which included: 145 citations written; 12 misdemeanor arrests; two DUI arrests; seven accident reports processed; 37 complaint reports taken; three warning citations issued. Arrested and transported to the Western Regional Jail by PPPD personnel were: William Chapman, fugitive from justice, domestic battery, obstructing. Miriam I. Greer, DUI. Derek T. Oxyer, reckless driving with injury, underage drinking. Whitney E. Forbes, DUI.
