Library Offers Fine-Free Days

The Portsmouth Public Library is offering patrons a chance to return overdue library materials and clear their library accounts during Fine-Free Days, May 5-19. The Library is having this Fine-Free period to allow patrons to return books, DVDs, magazines and other library materials without paying a fine.

The purpose of fine-free days is to thank the community for their year-round support and to ensure children and families can read and use the library this summer.

During this two-week time, no overdue fines will be charged on overdue items that are returned in good condition. In addition, for accounts with already incurred overdue fines, lost fees and damage fees, if you pay 50% of your account balance in one total payment, the remaining balance will

be waived with the exception of the $10 materials recovery fee. The materials recovery fee will not be discounted or waived and must be paid with the payment. Payment may be made with cash, check, money order, debit or credit card.

The Library’s Fine Free Days will begin Monday, May 5 at 10am and end at 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 19. Please call 354-5688, visit your local branch or go to yourppl.org for more information.
