For the past 10 years, Shawnee State University’s Children’s Learning Center has participated in fundraisers for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

One of the ways the CLC raises money is participating in the Trike-a-Thon. The children raise money from donations while also learning about bicycle safety. They receive prizes based on the amount of money they raise.

“At the same time, we collaborate with our university friends by visiting various participating offices while dressed in our favorite Halloween costumes for a Trek-a-Thon,” said Beth Rice, CLC director. “Between our children’s fundraising efforts through the Trike-a-Thon and contributions in the Trek-a-Thon, we have raised thousands of dollars for the research hospital with 100 percent of all contributions sent directly to the hospital.”

About 30 pre-school children trekked across campus this year to participating offices who gave out candy for the children and cash for St. Jude’s.
