GREENUP, Ky. — The 48th annual Greenup Old Fashion Days event will kick off Thursday, Oct. 3, with a host activities planned through Sunday, Oct. 5.

Bobby Allen, the Executive Director of Greenup County Tourism, said Old Fashion Days is one of the county’s longest running events.

“The event is a way to shine light on Greenup. It is Greenup’s second longest running event next to the Greenup County Fair,” Allen said.

Allen said Old Fashion Days is a combination of new and old traditions and compels former residents of Greenup County to return home.

“Many people travel back here for Old Fashion Days, even if they live many miles away just to show their support for the community. People get to see people they haven’t seen for a long time,” Allen said.

According to Allen, the headliner for Greenup Old Fashion Days is the talent show.

“Great contestants come from all over the state. The talent show has a tendency to run really long, but the performances are always great,” Allen said.

Allen said the Old Fashion Days event provides a boost to the local economy.

“This event makes a great impact economically for the area because the revenue that it brings in during the course of the week. We will have at least 100 vendors, and just the large number of people that will come to visit downtown Greenup,” Allen said.
