Children’s Summer Reading Program Events This Week-Fizz, Boom, Read!
We are celebrating reading all summer. Kids can sign up for summer reading June 2nd. Visit your favorite library location and sign up today. You will be entered for some great prizes and get to attend these fabulous, science based events.

Mad Scientist in the Tween Science Lab
Let’s try some awesome science experiments and have fun! Join us at the Portsmouth location June 19 at 4pm. Sign up in Local History or call 354-5304. Ages 8-12.
Tween Mario group
This new group will have its first meeting June 19 at 4pm. Ages 8-12 are welcome. Come join us for a fun time. There will be activities and refreshments. For more information, call the South Webster Branch Library at 778-2122.
Children Sign Language Basic Class
Ages 5-11 are invited to join us June 20 at 3:30pm to learn basic sign language skills in an open and positive environment. It is free of charge but you must sign up in advance by calling 354-5688 ext. 0 or visiting the Reference Desk at the Main library.
Teen Summer Reading Events This Week
Balloon Lego Car Races
Teens are challenged with the task of building a Lego car that will run solely on the air produced from an inflated balloon. Each Lego car will then compete in a race to see who survives. Supplies will be provided. Ages 13-18. Registration required.
This program will be held at the Portsmouth location June 19at 3 pm.
Adult Summer Reading Activities This Week
Come join us for a fun filled movie night at the New Boston branch June 23 at 5:30 pm.

The Portsmouth Public Library will be hosting its Yoga group at 10am in the Copley Meeting Room on Tuesday, June 17.
Inspirational Book Group
The Inspirational Book Group will meet at the Main Branch June 17th at 12:00 pm. Contact the library at 354-5688 ext. 0 for more information or to register for the group.
Create a Heritage Album
Scrapbooking with a twist of family history! Join us June 17 at 4pm. Bring an album and photos, and we supply paper and other materials. Meetings will continue each month. This program is FREE, but please call Local History Department to pre-register. Meetings are held in the Copley room at the main location. For more information call Local History at 354-5304.
Dinner and a Movie
The South Webster Branch Library will be hosting Dinner and a Movie June 17 for adults over the age of 18 from 5:00-7:30. Registration is required. Don’t forget to bring a covered dish to share. Warm Up America
A group of local knitters will be meeting in the Copley Meeting Room of the Portsmouth library location at 10am on Saturday, June 21 to make items to be donated to local families in need.
The A.R.T. Gallery
Non-traditional Art entries for the August A.R.T. Gallery showing must be submitted to the library by July 26th to be included in the show.
Monthly Media Trivia:
Every month PPL offers a new media themed trivia. Fill out a trivia each month to be entered in to win the corresponding “books into movies” prize!
Technology Classes Offered
The Information Technology Department of the Portsmouth Public Library will be offering a variety of computer classes this week. The schedule is as follows.
June 16- Photo Editing at 4pm
June 17- Social Networking at 1pm
June 18- Basic Computers at 1pm
June 19- Tablets at 11am and Computers for Seniors at 3pm
