Who says lighting doesn’t strike the same place twice?

For the second time in three years — 2015 and 2017 — residents of the Portsmouth, Ohio, area were the first and second prize winners of the Annual Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Ohio Scholarship Raffle Contest.

For 2017, the Joe Basham Family of South Webster, Ohio, were the winners of the $3,000 first prize. They purchased their winning ticket from Ralph Clay, Past Master of Portsmouth Trinity Lodge No. 9. Clay also sold the May 2015 first prize — $3,000 — Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Ohio Scholarship Raffle Ticket to Bill Harmon, a Portsmouth area resident.

Alleria Dorsey of Portsmouth is the May 2017 winner of the $1,750 second prize. She purchased her winning ticket from her grandfather, Phillip (Phil) McArtis, Paster Master of Portsmouth Trinity Lodge No. 9.

Proceeds from the annual scholarship raffle contest fund the awarding of scholarships by the Prince Hall Scholarship Foundation of Ohio. As an affiliate of the MW Prince Hall Grande Lodge of Ohio, Portsmouth’s Trinity Lodge No. 9 annually supports the Prince Hall Scholarship Foundation by selling the foundation’s raffle tickets.
