It has been just over a week since business owner Tarrah Bouts and her staff at Amelia Gray Skincare & Cosmetics have been operating out of their new location.

Originally located at 633 Seventh Street, Bouts quickly realized that her growing business was bursting out of the seams of the space. Now located just over a mile away at 1662 11th St., in the Portsmouth Place Plaza, Bouts and her crew have triple the space of their old office, allowing them to expand operations and client services.

“Our new office is right at 2,400 square feet. Our old office was 853 square feet. The front area, which is solely used for retail, is 815 square feet. What’s now our front lobby is almost the same size as our entire space at our old building,” said Bouts.

Bouts said the move was a welcome transition for her staff and despite the minor hiccups that come along with moving, everything has gone well.

Amelia Gray Skincare & Cosmetics specializes in services like facials and waxing, particularly in eyebrow needs, with both a walk-in brow bar and appointment services. Amelia Gray also features new eyelash lift services, enhancing the height of natural lashes, in addition to eyelash tinting. The business also offers makeup application services, from simple color-matching to special event makeup application with a full range of BareMinerals and Inglot products.

With the rapid growth of her business, Bouts knew she needed to bring in more employees to meet client needs, however, due to the size of the old office, it was nearly impossible for more than a few people to work at a time. Now, Bouts has brought in four new employees, with plans to hire more as things progress at the new location.

Along with hiring more staff, Bouts was able to expand hours of operation from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., Saturday.

The new office features a large lobby with a waiting and reception space, product displays and makeup application stations. It also features three private treatment rooms for facial and waxing services, eyelash lifts and tints and acne management services, as well as a client lounge for consultations.

“If someone comes in for a facial and they want a little more privacy while they wait we can use this space. They’re in for a relaxing service, they’re not in for the brow bar and they’re not in for makeup, we can bring them to the lounge and they can wait,” said Bouts. “It’s more discreet, it’s private and it sets the tone for their appointment. If we have a bridal party, they can use this room to spend time together before services. We can do our acne consultations in this room, it’s not going to be as awkward and the customer won’t have to feel hesitant or embarrassed or worry about others overhearing their concerns.”

Bouts said when she started her business she wanted to make booking services accessible and easy. Through the online portal, www.ameliagrayskincare.com, customers can view all offered services and can know in advance what is included. Customers can also call 740-353-3255 to book over the phone.

Customers can create an account online and book services with their provider of choice. Once a provider is selected, the customer is given a selection of dates and times that their provider is available, from there, they can select a date and time that is best for their schedule. Customers can book more than one service at a time and can choose additional products that they would like to purchase or use during their appointment. Once the appointment is booked, the client will receive a confirmation email, as well as a reminder before the appointment.

The online system also allows customers access to their purchase history, eliminating guesswork and making it simple to repurchase the right product.

Bouts also set up a text messaging system that sends special promotion alerts via text message. To sign up, text AMELIAGRAY to 444999.

“We’re very excited to see what the future has in store for us here at our new location, it’s the perfect fit for what we aim to do and we’re very happy with all that we’ve been able to accomplish so far,” said Bouts.
