Kiwanis Bike Rodeo


The Kiwanis Club of Lucasville sponsored a Bike Safety Rodeo the last Monday of July in Lucasville. Thirty two bike helmets were given to children participating and two of the children won new bicycles. Participants went through a course emphasizing agility, ability and safety. Members of the Valley Township Fire Department spoke to the children about safety issues and concerns. Ice cream sundaes were also made and given out to Bike Rodeo participants and community members. The Ohio District Kiwanis Foundation provided funds for this event as well as Southern Ohio Medical Center and the Kiwanis club. Pictured are some of the participants in their new helmets as well as the two children that won new bikes in the drawing held. The Kiwanis Club of Lucasville meets at 6:00 pm on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month in the meeting room of the Lucasville branch of the Portsmouth Public Library on Route 728. Visitors are always welcome.
