Dancing with our stars event

The Ohio River Valley American Red Cross invites the community to meet the new cast of Dancing With Our Stars 2017 at the “DWOS Kick-off” scheduled between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. on November 4, 2016 at the SOMC Friends Community Center on 18th Street. The new line-up of ten couples is filled with an array of Star dancers from throughout the community. Three former dancers will return as Pro dancers and the group includes two husband and wife teams.

“As we prepare for our 100th Anniversary of the local American Red Cross, we decided to include our guests in the evening’s events as we “Dance through the Decades” with a “Dress to Impress” costume contest”, said Debbie Smith, Community Executive. “Although optional, we encourage everyone to dig out attire from the past 100 years”, she continued. The contest winner will receive two complimentary seats to the main event on March 25, 2017.

In addition to meeting the dancers and the costume contest, the evening includes light hors d’oeuvres provided by the Fork and Finger Café, The Hilltop Café and Deli, Port City Café and Pub, Sonora Mexican Grill, Hot Head Burrito and 83 Sweets. Music will be provided by DJ Franky Frank along with a cash bar and entertainment.

The complete list of the ten couples who will compete in Dancing with our Stars season 5 includes:

Dancing With Our Stars resembles ABC Television’s hit “Dancing with the Stars” and features ten community members, known as “Star dancers”, who compete both on the dance floor and to raise money for the local Red Cross.

Now in its fifth season, Dancing with Our Stars is known for its sell-out crowd and generating funds to support the Red Cross programs in the community. All funds raised support local disaster prevention, preparation and relief, the life-saving training of first aid, CPR/AED classes, collection and testing of blood and blood products, support to military members serving around the globe, the transportation program and international programs.

Dancing with our Stars 2017 is scheduled for Saturday, March 25th at the Friend’s Community Center. Ticket information will be available at a later date. For more event information visit the ORV Red Cross Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/ORVredcross.
