The body of the deceased female found inside of a vehicle Sunday on East Temple Street has officially been identified as Megan M. Jones, 20, of West Union.

According to the Washington Court House Police Department, fingerprints were used Monday to make a positive identification of the body that was discovered at around 6 p.m. Sunday inside of a 2006 Kia in the 1100 block of East Temple Street. She was found lying in the backseat of the vehicle with some of her personal effects, including a purse and car keys.

She had been reported missing to the Adams County Sheriff’s Office earlier on Sunday. It is believed that her body had been inside of the vehicle for at least two days before it was found. Jones reportedly lived at a home on Robinette Road in West Union and worked in Hillsboro.

The body was sent to the Montgomery County Coroner for an autopsy.

The cause of death isn’t expected to be determined for another six to eight weeks, said Fayette County Coroner Dr. Dennis Mesker. There were no obvious signs of foul play and no obvious signs of trauma, authorities said.

There was a delay in making an official identification of the body due to decomposition from the extreme heat inside the vehicle.
