Scioto County Children Services has been awarded grant funding, by Ohio Children’s Foundation, to host their first car and craft show. They are seizing this opportunity to raise awareness for the need of foster and adoptive families in Scioto County and to fund raise for future recruitment events.
Lindsay Hall, Licensing Specialist at Children Services, states, “The number of children in our custody has drastically increased over the last couple of years and the need for more foster and adoptive homes is great. We receive no funding for recruitment tools or events, we’ve had to get creative and start fundraising. We really liked the idea of a car show because it’s such a family-friendly event. We’ll have raffles, auction, split the pot, various craft and specialty vendors, music, food, judging, trophies, door prizes, and more. Local businesses have been extremely generous in their raffle donations and we are very thankful for their support. We invite everyone to come out and have a day of family fun”.
Dr. Lorra Fuller, Executive Director, shared that she would like to thank Wheelersburg Schools for their generosity in allowing the agency to hold their car show at the High School. “Lindsay worked diligently to secure the funding and to plan this event. I would love to see it be a success so we can continue to raise awareness for the need of foster and adoptive families in our community.”
The event will be held at Wheelersburg High School on June 14th, 10am-3 pm. Registration for cars will be from 10am-1pm, the fee is $10. The first 20 people to register will get a goody bag and a T-shirt. Awards will be presented at 2pm. All cars are welcome. For more information, please contact Lindsay Hall at 740-456-4164.
