For the week ending May 2, 2014: The following traffic advisory includes road construction and major maintenance projects requiring lane restrictions and/or closures along the state and federal highway system within ODOT District 9. Districtwide


A raised pavement marking project is under way, and crews will be working on various routes throughout the district to replace RPMs. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in a rolling operation while crews are at work. All work is anticipated to be completed by early summer. (#14-1018)

Jackson County


U.S. 35 East will be reduced to one lane (eastbound direction) for a rock fall/slide repair project just east of C.R. 71 (Lloyds Bridge Road). Crews will be reconstructing the rock slopes and excavating along the eastbound lanes, where traffic will be reduced to one, 12-foot lane. Westbound traffic should not be affected during the initial phase of construction. The project is scheduled to be completed in early fall. (#14-0114)


Preliminary operations for a grade separation project at U.S. 35 and C.R. 9 (Keystone Furnace Road) are under way. Currently, traffic impacts are minimal, and traffic will be maintained on all routes during construction. The project is scheduled to be completed by early summer of 2015. (#14-0140)


Lawrence County


S.R. 7 is reduced to one, 10-foot lane just east (north) of its junction with S.R. 527 at Chesapeake and west of C.R. 32 (Eaton Road). Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained with temporary traffic signals, and the project is scheduled to be completed in early summer. (#13-0543)


A bridge replacement project is under way on S.R. 7 at the Indian Guyan Creek bridge, just west of Proctorville. Traffic is being maintained in one, 11-foot lane with temporary traffic signals, and all work is scheduled to be completed by late fall. (#14-0078)


APRIL 28: S.R. 217 will be reduced to one lane during daytime, business hours between S.R. 141 and C.R. 2 (Greasy Ridge Road) for a resurfacing project. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained with the aid flaggers, and the project is scheduled to be completed by mid-summer. (#14-0119)


A bench cleaning project is under way on U.S. 52 West, between T.R. 268 (Crabtree Hollow Road) and C.R. 1 (Old U.S. 52). Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane in the westbound direction and two lanes in the eastbound direction. However, motorists may encounter periods of delay, especially during peak travel times. The project is anticipated to be completed in early summer. (#14-1035)


APRIL 28: As part of the U.S. 52 bench cleaning project, motorists may encounter intermittent periods of short-term delay on Monday, April 28, when crews are pushing rock and debris from the hillside within the project area. All traffic in both the west and eastbound directions will be stopped and held for up to 15-minute intervals at any time from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.


The Ironton-Russell Bridge replacement project is under way, with work being conducted off affected roadways. In addition to localized closures affecting downtown traffic, motorists are advised of equipment entering and exiting the work zone in Ironton and at the U.S. 23 viaduct in Kentucky. (#11-0628)


As part of the Ironton-Russell Bridge replacement, First Street and Campbell Avenue in Ironton will be closed intermittently during daytime, business hours for construction of the Ohio approach. Crews will move from site to site, imparting separate closures as they progress through this phase of the project. Motorists will be detoured locally in downtown.


Pike County


APRIL 28: C.R. 47 (Denver Road) will be closed at its junction with C.R. 46 (Prussia Road), approximately one mile west of S.R. 104, for a realignment and culvert replacement project. The closure will be in effect for up to 180 days, and while the route is closed, motorists will be detoured via C.R. 35 (Prosperity Road) and S.R. 220 and U.S. 23 at Waverly. (#14-0024)


C.R. 85 (Tennyson Road) is closed at its junction with C.R. 21 (Sunfish Creek Road), approximately one mile east of S.R. 772, for a bridge rehabilitation project. The closure will be in effect for up to 120 days, and while the route is closed, motorists will be detoured via S.R. 772 and S.R. 32. (#14-0026)


S.R. 32 is reduced to one lane in the westbound direction at the 20.24-mile marker for a slide repair project. The project site is situated between the CSX Railroad underpass (east of Beaver Creek Road) and the Darst Road/Beaver Pike intersection. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in at least one lane in each direction, although eastbound traffic should not be affected. The project is scheduled to be completed in late spring 2014. (#13-0530)


A slip repair project has begun on S.R. 104, at the 4.6-mile marker, just north of C.R. 21 (Sunfish Creek Road). Crews will be placing rock channel protection along the slope, and during the first phase of construction, there should be little impact to traffic. The project is anticipated to be completed in early summer. (#13-0560)


S.R. 335 is reduced to one, 10-foot lane are just south of C.R. 56 (Carrs Run Road), approximately four miles north of T.R. 522 (Overly Road) for a slip repair project. Traffic will be maintained by temporary traffic signals, and the project is scheduled to be completed in early summer 2014. (#13-0503)


Scioto County


A bridge repair project is under way on S.R. 73, between Henley-Comstock and Euton roads, just south of the N&S Railroad. Currently, the route is open to two-way traffic; however, crews will be entering and exiting the work site at various times during construction. Motorists are advised to use additional caution in the project area. The project is scheduled to be completed in early summer. (#13-0566)


S.R. 348 is reduced to one lane at the Scioto River Bridge, just east of the S.R. 348 and S.R. 104 intersection, for a bridge rehabilitation project. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one, 11-foot lane with temporary traffic signals. Motorists are advised to expect periods of delay, especially during peak travel times. The project is anticipated to be completed by mid-fall. (#13-0583)


APRIL 30: Weather permitting, S.R. 348 will be closed from 10 p.m. Wednesday, April 30 until approximately 4 a.m. Thursday, May 1, for a deck pour. Operations will be contingent upon the weather, with an alternate, rain date scheduled for Thursday, May 1. While the route is closed, traffic will be detoured via S.R. 104 North and S.R. 32 to U.S. 23 or via S.R. 104 South and U.S. 52 to U.S. 23.


S.R. 335 will be reduced to one lane during daytime, business hours between the Portsmouth corporation limit, just north of C.R. 31 (Swauger Valley Road), and C.R. 12 (Bennett Schoolhouse Road) for a resurfacing and guardrail installation project. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained with the aid flaggers, and the project is scheduled to be completed by early fall. (#14-0119)


Operations have resumed at the U.S. 52 rehabilitation/resurfacing project between the S.R. 239 interchange and the Scioto River bridges at the Portsmouth corporation limit. During the initial phase, Ramp E from U.S. 52 West to S.R. 239 will be closed to traffic for structure rehab. Currently, the mainline line routes and ramps are open to traffic with no restrictions. All work is anticipated to be completed in mid-fall. (#12-3008)


As part of the ongoing U.S. 52 rehabilitation project west of Portsmouth, S.R. 852 is reduced to one lane in each direction at the U.S. 52 overpass, between the Carl Perkins Bridge to Kentucky and S.R. 73/S.R. 104 North, for bridge repair and resurfacing. This phase of the project is anticipated to be completed by early summer.
