Kids’ Events Announced

Take Your Child to the Library Day Story Time and Craft

Over 280 libraries nationwide will be participating in this exciting program. The Youth Services Department will host a special story time and craft program celebrating children and their love of books and the library. Children of all ages are invited to the Portsmouth library location Feb. 1 at 2 p.m.

Tail Waggin’ Tutors

Certified Therapy Dogs from the Southern Ohio All Breed Dog Club (and their owners) will be at various library locations. The dogs will be available to listen to any young reader wishing to practice their skills.

At Lucasville-Fridays from 3-5 p.m. and the second and fourth Saturdays of the month

Portsmouth- First and third Saturdays of the month from 2-4 p.m.

Upcoming Adult/Teen Activities Announced

Adult Painting Class-Snowman Bucket

The Adult Painting will be meeting Jan. 27 at the New Boston Branch. The class will be painting a Snowman Bucket. The class begins at 5:30 p.m. Please call ahead (456-4412) to reserve your spot at the New Boston Branch Library. There will be limited available seating; please stop to pre-register. There will be a fee of $5.


The Portsmouth Public Library will be hosting its Yoga group at 10 a.m. in the Copley Meeting Room on Tuesday, Jan. 28.

Poetry Group

The Portsmouth Public Library is offering a group for those who like poetry. If you like to write, share or just want to learn more about poetry, this group is for you! Join us at the Portsmouth location Jan. 28 at 5:30. This group is open to ages 16 and up, pre-registration is required.

Adult Book Group

Each month a new book is chosen for each member to read and then get together and discuss. Join us at the Wheelersburg branch on Jan. 28 at 6 p.m.

Monthly Media Trivia

Every month PPL offers a new media themed trivia. Play a trivia each month to be entered to win the corresponding “books into movies” prize!

The A.R.T. Gallery:

Watercolor entries for the February A.R.T. Gallery showing must be submitted to the library by Jan. 25 to be included in the show.

The Information Technology Department of the Portsmouth Public Library will be offering a variety of computer classes this week. The schedule is as follows.
