Business donates Christmas decorations to village

Michael and Jennifer Bailey of Shawnee Computer recently donated Christmas decorations to the village of New Boston.

Village officials said they were grateful for the donation that will be used for years to come.

“Mike and Jennifer Bailey have donated these Christmas lights to the village for our use. They also provided the brackets to mount them to various poles. I think it’s been one of the greatest things to help the village of New Boston celebrate Christmas,” said Mayor of New Boston Jim Warren.

Jennifer Bailey said she and Mike had been in conversations with the village about the possibility of donating decorations.

In their search for decorations that could of use to the village, Jennifer Bailey said they found a city in New Jersey that had some up for sale.

“We were able to work out a deal with them and drove to New Jersey to get them,” Jennifer Bailey

said. “It took us three days to get them. In total there are about 35 of these decorations.”

Warren described the decorations as having lanterns with garland hanging from them. He said the decorations can be seen hanging from light poles throughout the village of New Boston.

When asked what their motivation was to purchase these decorations, travel to get them and donate them to the village Jennifer Bailey said, “I remember how New Boston used to look when I was a little girl. My family is here and I grew up in the village. We wanted to try to get things back to the way they used to be.”

Warren said the reaction has been positive to the decorations.

“Everyone has been very appreciative of the donation and the decorations in New Boston coming back to life,” Warren said. “To find people that have open hearts like Michael and Jennifer is a benefit to the village.”
