What if you came home only to find two people you didn’t know in your house? And what if they refused to leave? And what if they said they were going to move in? Well, according to her complaint, that is precisely what Lucasville resident Bethany Collins experienced Saturday night.
According to the official report from the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office, Collins told authorities she came home, and there was a vehicle at her house, yet her door was still locked. Collins said, in her written statement, she found a man and woman in her kitchen, “smoking something in aluminum foil.” She said the man told her they came through a window.
Collins said she did not know either of them, but the man identified himself as Dusty. She said she told them to leave and they refused, and the man told her they were going to move into her basement. According to Collins’ statement, she called the homeowner, Terra Bair, who reportedly told her she knew Dusty, but he was not permitted on the property.
Collins went on to say she put the man on the phone with the homeowner, and the homeowner told him to leave, then told her he had to leave. However, according to Collins, he still refused to leave.
Meanwhile, Collins said the woman was wearing her clothes taken from her bedroom and her radio and old cell phone were in the basement where music was playing.
“I called police and left the house,” Collins said in her statement.
Deputies arrived at the house and there they found a man and woman, and the man told them they came through the front door. Deputies arrested John D. Zumbro, 36, of 8797 Wigent Rd., Reading, Michigan and Danya L. Iden, 23, of 455 Arlington Ave., Newark, Ohio, and charged them with burglary.
Deputies also reported finding syringes, spoons and an unknown substance which field tested positive for methamphetamine. The two were transported to the Scioto County Jail where they were booked and processed.
