The Counseling Center invites you to bring your family and friends to run, jog, or walk along the iconic Ohio River floodwall murals in historic downtown Portsmouth for the annual Natural High 5k Run/Walk on Saturday, October 5, 2013.
The Natural High 5k Run/Walk is The Counseling Center’s signature fundraising effort for Youth Prevention and Outreach programs, including programs for area schools and the successful Summer Outreach Club. Currently, children ages 5-12 are provided with quality recreational, motivational and educational opportunities during the unique Summer Outreach Club. The funds raised during the event will also help underwrite our Scioto County school based prevention services for students from elementary through high school.
Many young people in our area face tremendous challenges when it comes to making wise choices about drugs, alcohol, and staying in school when they are faced with peer pressure. The Counseling Center works diligently to motivate students to stay in school and prepare for a productive future. Community support is a key component to the success of The Counseling Center’s Prevention and Outreach program.
The race takes place on Saturday, October 5th with check-in and race-day registration beginning at 8:00 a.m. at the Holiday Inn located at 711 Second St. in downtown Portsmouth. The race is divided into 13 divisions for each gender. After the event, runners will return to the Holiday Inn where refreshments and fruit will be provided and the awards ceremony will talk place. Award medals will be given to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each division. The top male and female runners will be awarded a trophy and a race bag filled with top of the line running gear.
Registration is $20 with several methods of registration available.
