The Portsmouth Public Library is offering several opportunities for children to make crafts celebrating the fall. This week’s schedule is below. Call your local branch for more information.

Tail Waggin’ Tutors


Certified Therapy Dogs from the Southern Ohio All Breed Dog Club (and their owners) will be at various library locations. The dogs will be available to listen to any young reader wishing to practice their skills.


At Lucasville-Fridays from 3-5pm and the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month


Portsmouth- 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month from 2-4pm

Alopecia Areata Awareness Month Activities


Alopecia Areata -Kaleigh’s Day!


On September 21st at 3 pm., Kaleigh who is affected with Alopecia Areata, will be hosting a story time for anyone who would like to attend.


Alopecia Areata Apple Dessert Contest


On September 25th at 3:30 pm., the Portsmouth Public Library’s staff is hosting an apple dessert contest. The public will be allowed to sample each one and vote for their favorite! The winner of the best dessert will get a prize.


Apples to Apples


On September 25th at 2 pm., Come join us and play Apples to Apples. The children’s version will be available in the children’s department and the adult version will be available in the adult department.


Upcoming Adult/Teen Activities Announced


Adult Painting Class


The New Boston Library will be having Artist Buffet this month. The class will take place on September 23 and will begin at 5:30pm. There will be limited available seating, please stop to pre-register, fee is required at sign-up. For more information, call the New Boston Branch Library at 456-4412.


Yoga


The Portsmouth Public Library will be hosting its Yoga group at 10am in the Copley Meeting Room on Tuesday, September 24 .


Scrapbook Party


The South Webster Branch will be hosting a Scrapbooking class from 5:30-7:30 pm September 24. Those attending will be learning the art of scrapbooking. Space is limited. A fee of $5 will be charged to cover the cost of materials. Pre-registration is required. For more information, call the South Webster Library at 778-2122.


Poetry Group


The Portsmouth Public Library is starting a poetry group. The first meeting will take place September 24th at 5:30 pm. If you like to write, share or just want to learn more about poetry, this group is for you! Open to ages 16 and up, pre-registration is required.


Non-Fiction Book Group


The new Non-Fiction Book group will be meeting September 26 from 5:30-7:30pm at the Wheelersburg Branch library.


Knitting


The Knitter’s Group will be meeting in the Quiet Room of the Portsmouth library location at 5:30pm on Thursday, September 24.


Adult Sign Language Basic Class


Ages 12 and up can join us to broaden basic sign language skills in an open and positive environment. The class meets twice a month at the Main Branch. The next class will take place September 27 at 3:30 pm. It is free of charge but you must sign up in advance by calling 354-5688 or visiting the Reference Desk at the Main library.


Monthly Media Trivia


Every month PPL offers a new media themed trivia. Play a trivia each month to be entered to win the corresponding “books into movies” prize!


Crispie Creme Drawing


Each week PPL offers a chance to win a gift certificate from Mrs. Renison’s Crispie Creme. Check out music CDs to be entered into the weekly drawings.


Digital DIY


Visit yourppl.org to learn how to make a different recycled book craft every month.


Book Sale Drawing


In September, win a recycled book craft. Each time you purchase any item from the daily book sale, your name will be entered into a drawing.

The Information Technology Department of the Portsmouth Public Library will be offering a variety of computer classes this week. The schedule is as follows.
