Mothman Pageant continues Friday

POINT PLEASANT —Winners were crowned in the Tiny Miss, Little Miss, Young Miss and Junior Miss Mothman Pageant Thursday night, with more titles to be awarded on Friday.


This year, the pageant is at the Trinity Christian Community Center at Trinity UM Church due to the weather forecast. Admission is adults $2, students $2 and children five and under get in free. Visiting royalty are admitted for free. Friday’s pageant starts at 6 p.m.


According to Directors Delyssa Edmonds and Rebecca Roll, close to 100 contestants have flocked to the Sixth Annual Miss Mothman Festival Pageant.


“We have 75 pre-registered contestants for the two days of pageantry and expect more to sign up for our children’s pageant on Thursday, and the very first Little Mister contest set for Friday,” Edmonds said. “We are really excited about this year’s group of contestants.”


The first set of contestants, ages two-12, competed last night in Casual Wear and On-Stage Interview (Little Miss and up). Winners chosen last night were as follows in the follow categories: Tiny Miss Mothman Alexandria Allen, First Runner Up Abella Martin, Second Runner Up Zoie Whittington, Tiny Miss Photogenic Shyanne Benson.


Little Miss Mothman Hannah Pope, First Runner Up Shayne Shouldis, Second Runner Up Addison Norris-Page, Little Miss Photogenic Shayne Shouldis.


Young Miss Mothman Emma Sayre, First Runner Up Madison Veen, Second Runner Up Rylyn Bielinkski, Young Miss Photogenic Jasmine Webb.


Junior Miss Mothman Lauren Gorman, First Runner Up Arianne Nedeff, Second Runner Up Addison Utterback, Junior Miss Photogenic Rylee Harner.


Young ladies in each category also collected food for Crosslight of Hope with the following being recognized for their community service: Makayla Billings in Tiny Miss; Zoey Firman in Little Miss; Jasmine Webb in Young Miss; Lakyn Secrest in Junior Miss. Firman took home the Overall Community Service Award.


On Friday night, Teen Miss, Miss, Ms., and Mrs. contestants will take the stage, as well as those competing for the very first Little Mister Mothman Festival title. If anyone is interested in signing up their son, contestants must be between the ages of six and 10. Registration begins at 5 p.m. and closes at 6 p.m. Again, pageant starts at 6 p.m. There are no sign ups the day of for contestants ages 15 and up.


This year, a total of nine girls will compete for the Teen Miss Princess and Queen titles. They are: Brianna Glass, 15, of Argillite, Ky.; Hannah O’Brien, 14, of Hurricane; Sarah Deem, 13, of Leon; Logan Bissell, 15, of New Haven; Sumer Hughes, 13, of Glenwood; Taylor Gillam, 14, of Point Pleasant; Jaden Giles, 13, of Spencer; McKenzie Roush, 13, of Point Pleasant; and Kami Shultis, 15, of Spencer.


In the Miss division, nine contestants will vie for the 2013 Queen and Princess titles. They are: Andrea Jones, 16, of Dunbar; Kaitlyn Beck, 19, of Lumberport; Shiloh Wamsley, 16, of Point Pleasant; Courtney Perry, 19, of Huntington; Addison Fisher, 18, of Greenup, Ky.; Whitney Layton, 17, of Point Pleasant; Madison Nottingham, 16, of Winfield; Halley Alberts, 17, of Crown City, Ohio; and Savannah Harper, 16, of Spencer.


Four contestants will compete for the chance to be this year’s Ms. Queen. They are: Zakara Shirley, 28, of Leon; Katie Bowen, 25, of Spencer; Amanda Baker, 22, of Point Pleasant; and Jette Pleasant, 21, of Lockport, Ill.


A total of 14 will compete in the Mrs. division. They are: Cindy Tucker of Hurricane; Jennifer Napier of Wayne; Amber High of Spencer; Ponnie Piggott-Sampson of Mineral Wells; Nancy Fulton of Belmont, Ohio; Ashley Durst of Leon; Miranda Hartley of Mineral Wells; Danielle Gillispie of Letart; Miranda Griffin of Spencer; Ashley Dunkle of Kenna; Erika Westfall of Spencer; Suzanne Davis of Huntington; Samantha Brinkman of Barnesville, Ohio; and Adria Watson of Crown City, Ohio.


Friday night contestants will compete in Moth Wear, Evening Wear and On-Stage Interview. The Little Mister contestants will take the stage in Casual Wear during intermission of the Queen’s pageant.

The 2012 Royalty will be on hand to crown the new queens. They are Kendra Davis, Tiny Miss Queen; Jasmine Wright, Little Miss Queen; Sofia Strobl, Young Miss Queen; Abby VanSickle, Junior Miss Queen; Peyton Lovell, Teen Miss Queen; LaTasha Mitchell, Miss Queen; Madelynn Coalson, Ms. Queen; and Melissa Wilson, Mrs. Queen.
