Paul Brown featured artist for August at the FAC

August 12, 2013

GALLIPOLIS — Jackson, Ohio, artist Paul Brown is featured in the French Art Colony Galleries for the month of August. The exhibit spans a variety of subject styles, from landscapes to still life to abstract. The large exhibit also includes a few pieces from Browns experimentation with pastels.

Brown studied under Mr. Clarence Rice in high school, then minored in art at the University of Rio Grande. Although he took a variety of courses, art remained simply a pastime until he retired in 2010. Now he works on his art almost every day.

Brown has won various awards and accolades from area arts festivals and has exhibited at the Markay Cultural Arts Center as well as the Pump House Art Gallery. He currently serves as a board member for the Southern Hills Arts Council.

Brown’s exhibit will be on display at the French Art Colony, located at 530 First Avenue in Gallipolis, Ohio, through August 29. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.; Saturday, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.; and Sunday, from 1-5 p.m. The French Art Colony is closed on Mondays.
