The Portsmouth Elks Lodge 154 has donated $2,000 to STAR, Inc., Adult Workshop, a part of the Scioto County Board of Developmental Disabilities. The money will be used to purchase a new air mat used as for proprioceptive and sensory therapy and pressure relief for individuals who utilize a wheelchair or have other physical needs.

The Elks annually distributes charitable contributions on a national scale making them the most charitable organization in the United States today. In the state of Ohio the Elks major charitable project is in supporting individuals with cerebral palsy.

STAR, Inc. serves 156 adults with developmental disabilities, 22 of which have been diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. It is one of many services provided by the Scioto County Board of Developmental Disabilities.
